8/15/14 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Sunday

I asked you how yesterday how I would be able to entertain when I felt so shaky from getting sick all morning, remember? My husband and I were having an evening baby shower with our friends. Two of my best friends threw the shower at our house so I wouldn't have to travel and all the presents would just be here after the party - less hassle for me. They did an exquisite job! You should have seen it...decorations one of the girls made herself (they looked like they could be out of a craft magazine!) and the other girl and her mom made homemade pizzas. It couldn't have been more thoughtful! Somehow I got up enough energy to get ready and be social. I think I began running on adrenaline. Right before the first person arrived, a powerful storm hit and the power went out. This meant all the homemade pizzas that were just about to go in the oven weren't going to be cooked. There were 20 some guests coming and we couldn't feed them! To top it off, one of my dogs has a torn ACL and has to be confined. We didn't want her to get all excited from the guests so we took her to my father-in-law's farm house. He lives somewhere else so he keeps the A/C extremely high. It was like a sauna in there when we put the dogs in the laundry room. Luckily there was a box fan to keep them cool. My father-in-law's farm house is only a mile away from ours and it's on the same power grid. So if our power was out you can be sure it was at the farm house too. This meant no circulation of cool air in a confined little space for my dogs; who already get extremely worked up and overheated from storms! TO BE CONTINUED... SUNDAY Breakfast - 1 serving of Fiber One pancakes with 1/4 cup sugar-free syrup 1 cup fat-free organic milk 3/4 cup fresh fruit Lunch - 2 small slices of homemade pizza left over from the shower ***still feeling nauseous so no veggie Snack - Peach Dinner - 1 cup of diced chicken mixed with whole wheat pasta, mushrooms, parsley, low-fat cheese, onions, and chicken broth Salad (mixed greens, cranberries, carrots, mushrooms) 2 tbsp. light ranch Snack - 1 small chocolate cupcake leftover from shower
